A lot of folks got kind of pissed at Motorola for giving Rogers exclusivity over the Moto X in Canada, but it appears that wasn?t such a bad idea after all. The country?s most popular wireless carrier, with close to 10 million subscribers as of a couple of months back, has decided not only to not abuse its power, but to make an unexpected act of kindness and already slash X?s price.
True, we?re not exactly dealing with a life-altering discount here, as the Moto X has gone down from $199.99 to $169.99 with two-year pacts, but free money is free money. Meanwhile, you can still get the 4.7-incher for $549.99 sans contractual obligations, which continues to be a little on the expensive side of things.
As for the variants of the phone available up North, I?m afraid you?ll have to make do with just the traditional ?Woven Black? and ?Woven White? models for now, although the customizable Moto Maker tool should make its way to Rogers before long.
Stateside, the X has been with us for about a week courtesy of AT&T, with Verizon following suit mere hours ago. Unfortunately, Big Red will probably not budge on pricing anytime soon, so expect to be asked to pay $200 with 24-month contracts for the white and black Moto X for at least one month or so. T-Mobile, Sprint, your move.
