Review: Vampires, sex, murder ? this book has it all. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it was a little on the long side for the story it was trying to tell, but honestly, that didn?t take away too much from the book itself. Having read Lisa Jackson?s books before, they are usually guaranteed to be a good thriller, but sometimes this one felt a little pushed in places. It?s hard to explain what I?m really trying to say. It was a good book, no doubt about it. But it didn?t feel entirely believable. I think that was my issue with it. Maybe that?s just me not buying into the whole commercialized vampirism and whatnot (now, if you want a good vampire story, check out Blood Oath). However, I suppose if the vampire element had been left out of this book, it would have felt like a gazillion other thriller books with very similar plots. Overall, I would recommend this book. But I think it?s a very forgettable read.

Hulu drops subscription button from iPad app, more apps could do same (Appolicious)
It?s a mere nine days before Apple?s subscription rules kick in for content-providing iOS apps in the iTunes App Store, and among those to acquiesce to Apple?s guidelines is streaming video app, Hulu.
Those subscription rules bar Hulu from posting a link on the front page of the app that directs users to Hulu.com in order to purchase a monthly subscription to Hulu Plus. Apple?s (AAPL) subscription rules say that any app directing users to an outside site to purchase subscription content will be banned from the App Store. If Hulu wants to sell subscriptions through its app, it has to do so through in-app purchases ? with Apple getting a cut of 30 percent with each subscription sold.
So, in order to avoid giving away that cut, Hulu has decided against going the in-app purchase route, and that has cost it the ability to sell subscriptions at all through its iOS apps. Hulu?s link to the subscriptions online has been removed from its app, according to All Things Digital. That?s certainly a bummer for Hulu, but it could be worse ? Apple could have demanded Hulu sell subscriptions through in-app purchases, or refuse Hulu?s app entirely.
That?s what the original subscription rules said back in February when Apple first rolled them out. Originally, any developers that sold content that could be accessed by their iOS apps had to make that content available through in-app purchases, with Apple getting its 30 percent, if they wanted to offer those apps in the App Store. What?s more, Apple?s rules stated that subscriptions sold through its App Store had to be offered at an equal or lower price to the subscription available anyplace else. Basically, Apple wanted to force developers to sell content through the App Store and to make sure it was the most desirable way for users to purchase that content.
A lot of developers were annoyed (and some even infuriated) by the rules, and a few even pulled their apps from the App Store altogether in protest. Then, earlier this month, with the June 30 deadline approaching for developers to bring their apps in line with the subscription rules, Apple relented. They altered the rules to do away with the low-price edict and the requirement that all subscriptions be available through in-app purchases; instead, Apple?s new rules basically limit developers from offering alternatives to in-app purchases in apps. If you want to sell subscriptions through apps, then Apple gets a cut. That seems like a fair compromise.
As Hulu goes, so will lots of other apps in the next week, it seems. Apps such as Pandora (P) and Rhapsody, which distribute music, and Netflix (NFLX), another streaming video app, will be stripping-out links to subscriptions if they want to stay in the App Store. Other content providers, like some newspapers and magazines, have already gone forward with adding in-app purchases to their setups.
But one of the big apps to watch is Amazon?s Kindle app, as well as other e-book sellers. Amazon (AMZN) sells book for its Kindle app through its web store, but under Apple?s rules, the app will get bounced from the App Store if it includes that web link. It?s doubtful Amazon will want to share its e-book profits with Apple, so that either means no more Kindle on iOS, or at least a more convoluted method of purchasing new books.
Certainly it won?t just be Amazon that has to rework its business model come June 30.

R. Kelly Sued by Ex-Manager
See, R. Kelly. When you urinate on 14-year old girls during sex, there's always a price to pay...
Jeff Kwatinetz, the former manager of this R&B singer, has filed lawsuit against his ex-client, alleging that Kelly screwed him out of over $1 million in commission.
In the suit, as first reported by TMZ, Kwatinetz argues he "guided Kelly through the recording of two new albums, substantial multi-million dollar tours... a book deal, and a myriad of other appearances and events" during 2008, as the artist was forging a comeback following numerous personal and legal issues.
However, Kelly "refused to pay" the 15% commission owed to his manager, according to documents.
What reason was given for the stiffing?
Kelly's business manager supposedly told Kwatinetz he couldn't be paid "because the monies were needed for payments to avoid lawsuits and adverse publicity resulting from Kelly's alleged [sexual misconduct]."
(Note: Kelly was arrested in 2002 and 2003 on child pornography charges.)
The rep for R. Kelly denies all allegations, however, saying: "Mr. Kwatinetz is a disgruntled former manager who apparently feels the need to try to seek retribution for his discharge. It is particularly disturbing, given his job as a professional talent manager and trusted adviser, that he would feel the need to lash out and dish what he thinks is dirt against a former client.
"When the actual facts are presented, however, we are confident that his allegations will be found to be completely without merit."

Most tell me that they don?t have a formal training program for new sales consultants or any ongoing training for seasoned consultants. 1. Define the essential sales skills and sales techniques that your sales team needs
Every car salesperson must master certain skills to be successful in his/her career. Skills such as: building rapport, presentation, closing, negotiation, following up, networking, prospecting and much more.
2. Scheduling your training
Many times dealers will ask me, ?How many days should we train?? My answer is, ?Only the days that you want to win.? In my store we have scheduled training every day on some specific sales skill that our team needs to learn or brush up on. We start be evaluating our team?s strengths and weaknesses. If our team is not doing a good job with building rapport then we will spend a week or two on the best practices for building rapport. If our team is weak in their closing skills then we will train on closing. We understand that our business will get better when we get our people better. As the manager or the owner, it is your responsibility to help your car sales people get better. We have also developed manager and leadership training where we teach things like: How to motivate underperforming sales people, Best practices in developing sales people and How and when to fire a sales person. Through ongoing development of our entire we have watched our sales and profits soar and our team is working better together.
3. Stay consistentConsistency is a major key to your sales training program if you intend on increasing your dealerships profits. Often times new car dealers as well as used car dealers try things once or twice and then cast them away if they don?t see immediate results. I believe that sales training is just like taking medicine, you must take it as prescribed if you intend on getting the desired results. One day of training will not turn your automotive sales department around. You must stay the course in developing you dealership?s training program. As the leader you must be committed if you expect your team to be committed.

Also of note, Associate Biologist Carrie Wilson was recently awarded two top honors from the Outdoor Writers Association of America, a non-profit organization for professional outdoor communicators from California and surrounding western states. Wilson received a second place award in the Best Freelance Work category for her feature article ?Injured Women Veterans Celebrated with Pig Hunt.? She also received a third place in the Best Website category for her California Outdoors Q&A column.

On Saturday, Dylan had a birthday party to attend at Bounce U. It started in the morning, so the two of us headed out early. Dylan had a great time with his classmates, and I had fun running errands with my boy before and after the party. It was nice to spend some quality time with just him!
Lexie had a great time with Grant while we were away. They watched some movies, had a dance party, and Grant made a CD just for her!
That afternoon, Dylan had a baseball game. It was really hot yesterday, and the baseball field had no shade. It was definitely a scorcher! Lexie had a great time playing in the dirt, and ended up filthy. Dylan found a toad in the outfield during one of the innings. He LOVES frogs and toads, so I was really impressed that he managed to focus on the game and not pick up the toad until the inning was over! Talk about discipline!
I forgot the sunscreen again, so my mother-in-law came to the rescue! It has been so hot lately. It feels like we live in Texas!
We had a quick dinner after the game, and then Grant's parents stopped by to visit. When they left, we put the kids to bed, and then watched a movie together. It was nice to not have plans for once!
We got to sleep in this morning! Dylan and Lexie woke up just a bit before us, and cleaned Dylan's room. It was definitely nice to wake up to that! We ran some errands, and then visited Grant's family for a while before heading to a picnic at our friends' house.
We thought it was a picnic to honor their new (adorable!!!) baby girl...
...but our wonderful friends surprised us with a little baby shower! It was so nice of them. Thank you Tracy, Gary, Amber, Rex, Tina, Matt, Lindsey, and Gabe! They spoiled us with some great gifts for Nugget!
We had a lot of fun with our friends! We are so lucky to have them!
Dylan was so busy playing with his buddies that he didn't even realize what was going on until he came home and saw all the gift bags. He had a lot of fun looking through the bags!
Lexie fell asleep on the way home, so I got to relax while Grant and Dylan watched a movie before bed. It was a good way to end the day!
I am so thankful for all these wonderful weekends that we've been having with our family and friends!

Sad news for country singer Trace Adkins.
The 5,000-square foot home he shared with his wife and three daughters in Brentwood, Tenn., is a total loss following a devastating Saturday afternoon blaze.

Although the singer, 49, and his wife were both out of town at the time of the fire, two of the couple's children and the houseguests looking after them were home. All were able to make it out safely.
Returning to Tennessee from a trip to Atlanta, Trace's wife, Rhonda, was 10 minutes from home when a neighbor called to say: "Your house was on fire," The Tennessean reports. The entire Brentwood Fire Department was called in to contain the blaze.
"I'm just numb," the singer's wife of 14 years told The Tennessean. "I'm sad because we lost irreplaceable things like all Trace's awards and our family photos. [But] you can replace things, not people. I'm just glad that my children are safe."
Adkins is scheduled to appear at this week's CMA Music Awards in Nashville.

Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio just wrapped up an ultra-luxe, mega-romantic jaunt on the French Riviera and other Euro hotspots. What'd they do for an encore? They went to Disneyland!
