EXCLUSIVE | Mike Dolce Talks ?UFC FIT? The UFC's New Health ...

?

As the premier organization for mixed martial arts, the UFC has found success in branching off to the world of personal fitness through opening over 90 UFC Gyms across 23 states in America. Next week, the UFC will continue its expansion into the fitness realm with the release of its first at-home fitness and nutrition program, UFC FIT.

Designed by famed MMA dietician and lifestyle coach Mike Dolce, creator of ?The Dolce Diet?, UFC FIT (short for Full-Body Intensity Training) is a 12-week program that is dedicated to helping not only elite-level athletes, but people of all ages change their lives. Dolce spoke with BJPENN.COM this week to discuss the upcoming release of UFC FIT, as well as some of the principles behind its creation.

?UFC Fit is going to change your life!? Dolce began with his ever-present enthusiasm shining through. ?It?s a complete lifestyle transformation program: a 12-week training system, where six days a week I?m working out with you. I?ve got 10 people on the UFC Fit team of all different body types: Men, women, big, muscle-bound, small, even gymnastic types to show people the different ways to do the exercises.

?Now, the exercises are based on the science I?ve used with the world?s greatest athletes, and we all know my resume? Dolce continued, referencing his who?s-who list of clientele that includes Chael Sonnen, Vitor Belfort and Johnny Hendricks. ?I use this science to allow regular people to train using those same principles. So we get rid of the fads, we get rid of the gimmicks; we get rid of all the BS that people are wasting their time on. I actually get in there and train you- train real people that may not have access to a guy like me all the time.?

Having worked with regular, everyday people in the past, along with a bevy of top-level fighters in MMA, Dolce has become well known for his diet and tactics that help his athletes safely make weight. Because of his presence within the sport, the UFC contacted him personally to talk about the possibility of releasing a fitness program and collaborate with him on the details.

?I got a phone call from Don Gold, the Executive Vice President of Entertainment for the UFC. I had known Don previously through some of my work with Vitor Belfort. So Don called me up one day and said, ?The UFC?s working on a project and they?d like to talk to [you] about it,? said Dolce, who noted that in the beginning, the idea was for a fighter-specific program called UFC Training camp.

?Don and I, we were on the same page with the direction of the product and of course Lorenzo [Fertitta] and Dana [White] who run everything, they loved and supported everything we did with it. They only wanted it to be the best, they said, ?we?re not going to release this if it?s not the best. If it?s not going to change people?s lives, it?s not worth it.??

When the dust settled, UFC FIT was in the works. As a self-proclaimed ?longevity advocate?, Dolce was adamant that a program of this stature needed to be geared towards everyone, not just fighters. The approach to longevity in the fight game was transferred over to UFC FIT, and the end result was what Dolce calls a ?sustainable lifestyle? that is meant to build the next generation of healthy people.

Through the struggles of everyday life, which plague many people and make it difficult to find time for the gym, what?s missing in large part is motivation. For those who may not have access to Dolce as a personal coach for weeks at a time, UFC FIT offers up motivation six days a week from one of the premiere figures in not only mixed martial arts, but health and fitness as well. The program will have Dolce showing proper techniques for exercises, with varying levels of difficulty, as well as a 132-page Lifestyle Manual that will cover the most important aspect of improving your health: diet.

?Diet is everything,? Dolce continued, ?And I understand people might choose not to [do the workouts], and that?s fine. If they follow the lifestyle manual, they will have tremendous success, tremendous benefits because everything starts with your health, and that?s your diet. Now if you?re talking about having bulging biceps and a flat stomach, the training effect is going to have to kick in a little bit more to carve out those details. But when it comes to being truly healthy, the UFC Fit Lifestyle Manual covers everything.?

For the UFC, a company whose growth is still continuing, the debut of this product will bring focus to a positive change of pace in the fitness world. Its universal appeal, according to Dolce, is the foundation of the program.

?A pro athlete, his wife, his daughter and his grandmother can all train side-by-side in the same room with the same coach, do the same workout and get the same benefit that suits their goal. That?s how I built UFC FIT.?

The UFC FIT Program, which includes 12 different MMA-inspired exercise DVDs in addition to the Lifestyle Manual and samples of XYIENCE and Ulti-Bar products, retails at $119.99 and is now available for pre-order at www.UFCFIT.com. Shipping will begin in mid-May.
